The Sales Recession Crusher | Frank Rumbauskas Sales Network

The Internet's #1 Sales Resource Site!

I've been reading Donald Trump's "On the Way to the Top". Great book, about 50 entries from executive leaders on the best advice they've received that inspired their career or life. It's more of a business daily devotional, and today I read his entry about Jack Valenti, now CEO of Motion Picture Association of America Inc.
Jack sought advice from Garner Allen Mabry, and Garner said "Jack, remember this: Never take a job just for the money, for soon, like every living organism, you'll live beyond your means and you'll probably be miserable in your job. Always strive to take a job doing something you truly love to do. If it's money you seek, it will come to you in barrels-full, because if you love what you do, you'll no doubt do it very well and folks who want the best will beat your door down to employ you."
Jack Valenti says he gets up eager to start the day. He says "I love what I am doing. It's been a great life and only getting better".
May you prosper greatly from this as it has encouraged me.

What words of wisdom have you received that have blessed, encouraged, inspired, motivated, or perhaps even just hit you smack in the face to help you wake up and do more?

The best piece of business advice I have been given, was from the Managing Director of an insurance company.
I asked:
"What do I need to do to be successful in Sales" (I was asking as a woman, in a Sales position)

He looked at me thoughtfully before he replied. Then he said:
"Look like a woman, and Think like a man"

From that very day, those words have rung LOUD and clear in my head, and I have never looked back....
I can truly Thank him for:
1). Being less emotional when decisions work against me
2). Being able to handle disappointment
3). Honing my skills in the area of negotiation
4). Determining (and accurately) the outcome of a sales presentation or meeting
5). Never wearing trousers when I meet business clients. After all I must "Look like a Woman".
