The Sales Recession Crusher | Frank Rumbauskas Sales Network

The Internet's #1 Sales Resource Site!

Sorry for not having a picture, I just logged on for the frist time today.
I have a question! I'm 25 years old and is new to sales, I started working for a company
who sales the service of ( Obtaining corporate credit ) basically we help new businesses who are using personal finaces to finance there business or people who are intrested in obtaining money for their ventures we have ways of helping them obtain those funds. Heres my question, my company spend money on advertising but they are not getting that many incoming calls, and since im on commison, I want to create a website where like frank says market myself as a guru in obtaining finacing. I have not yet made any sales not because of the product, but because i find myself cold calling because we have like maybe 4 incoming calls a day , and they are really bad leads ( LATIMES Classifeds and Recycler ) dont know what my managers are thinking .... dont ask.
Anways I want to do my own marketing, A) Is it worth it , B) If my company is already using adwords ( corporate credit ) should I do it anyways? They also have awber but i dont think they are utiizling it that well because we are not getting any incoming calls, I want to do it myself.
Should i work on this project or should i leave it up to my company to advertise themselves? What should i do? Our service is 2500 dollars for the 1 year consultant fee and 7 percent of the funding we get them. I like to know if this is a good service? and weather or not i should stay in this sales job because sales are really bad. Alot of the people here are only getting 2 - 3 sales a month, we get 500 commison and nothing on the back end , which seems kinda bad concidering this is a high ticket sale.

2nd ) I found a company closer to home that says they stricly deal with inbound calls ( it seems like a boiler room type operation but legitmate as to what they do ) they help people build there personal finance score, meaning if you have a bad FICO we build it up for you for a year , the sale is 1200 and commison is 300. with this job , I have less creativety and dont see clients, its pretty much a call center, and the guy ( sales manger) said this is a 1 call close meaning we get lots of calles we close them in 1 call. We rarely do follow ups and they dont have computers just phones.

So A) should i stay at my current job or move to the number 2 jobs
B) Should i spend money on the current job,
C) If i move to the number 2 job it doesnt seem that i can be creative and make websites and do advertising because they do it for me ( enough marketing where that i dont need to do that ) is this good or bad? They dont have computers for us, just a phone that rings. Where as the other job is in a nice office but the phone doesnt ring. 1st job makes me look like a professional , 2nd job makes me look like a dork in a boiler room.

What do you guys think?

Eric, I have no desire to sell anyone anything on this site. However I wish to give gifts to those who wish to receive them. These gifts are what I have received from my experience and what others have given me .
A way to help you become a more effective communicator, search for a local toastmasters group. This is a group that helps you structure and give speeches. It is a free group. You can listen and hear what others do to organize speeches. You can join and get involved with giving speeches if you want.
You will be amazed with all the items you can employ within your daily activities concerning sales.Mainly organzing your thoughts, your sales guidelines, delivering your sentences and the tone of your voice. When to pause, what to do with your arms, hands while speaking.

Hi Eric

Sorry for your predicament. Hmmmm....just reading over what you wrote and the question I asked myself was "waht do you want...where do you see yourself?"

Let me explain...

The techniques of Frank work...they really do, so you just have to decide which job will help you to continue on the path towards your goals.....

That's easier said than done when you need money and need it like NOW!! but let's not take 3 steps back to 1 forward -if you know what I mean. I am glad to say that I am not here to sell you anything....in fact Frank said in a previous post that I was hype free...I personally hate all that cr@p (excuse the french!)

If you feel that I could help you with some of the marketing side of things just let me know and we can make contact, so to speak, and we can share what we are doing in here, so that others can benefit...and anything that you want to keep private we can discuss privately.

So, the offer is there if you need a point in the right direction.....I have already helped Brad with a few things too.

Hi Eric,

I sense you are struggling with some important decisions regarding your future in Sales
So here is my 2cents worth and I hope that along with other members comments, you can make informed choices.

From reading your post - here are the minuses:

1). You are new to the Sales environment
2). You seem to expect customers to come to YOU via marketing efforts made by your company and not your own efforts
3). Your spelling, grammar and written presentation skills are poor.
4). You are a commission agent thinking to spend money on a website, when you haven't made a dollar to date.
5). You seem to have a desire to market yourself as a "guru in obtaining finacing" before you have proven yourself.
- That stretches credibility and would be a hard sell for you.
6). You don't have much faith in your company, their advertising strategies or your managers.
7). You are already looking at another job
8). "1st job makes me look like a professional , 2nd job makes me look like a dork in a boiler room".??
- Clearly, to appear to be a professional is more important to you than BEING ONE...

On the Plus side:

1). You are only 25 years old so "the world is your oyster"
2). As a young man, you can invest your time, energy and effort into whatever line of work you choose
3). Being new to Sales means you are open to using technology to enhance your sales, rather than being bogged down in "old style" methods (as some of our colleagues are)
4). As a commission agent, you have an uncapped earning potential
5). You appear to be Asian, so that is a HUGE plus. You can reach markets that other sales reps can't, simply by virtue of your ethnicity.

I think that you should:

1). Stay in your current job. The professional nature of the job suits your mental perception of how you view yourself.
2). Create your own niche among the Asian community selling your services to specifically meet THEIR needs
3). Do NOT spend money you do not have! So no website (just yet), blackberry or iphone expenses please.
4). Get out there door knocking, and I mean literally!! The Asian community does not operate like other businesses, so meet them on their terms.
5). Keep your "eyes on the prize", and that is building your own client base in Sales. Spend less time analysing your managers, or how the company operates. That is a precious waste of your time and energy.
6). Talk to people about your job when you are out socialising. You don't stop selling just because the clock strikes 5pm!
7). Finally > INVEST IN YOURSELF. It is the greatest investment we can make. Take an evening class to learn written English. Join Toastmasters or a Speaking Group to learn presentation skills.

Good Luck Eric....
