I've been looking into creating my own website - does anyone have a reccomendation? I have no experience with webistes so I'll need a host that has templates or programs that will help me build my own.
Thanks in advance for your help!
a) the "free" sites that Yahoo, GoDaddy, Network Solutions, and others offer (usually with someone else's banner ads running on your pages - not very professional looking!)
b) the template-driven sites that many hosting companies offer (choose your color scheme and layout, then plug in your picture and text - they can look somewhat "cookie cutter" generic)
c) individually developed sites that may start out from an industry-specific layout but can be edited and managed by you using online tools
d) custom-designed sites developed by a website designer using DreamWeaver, FrontPage, or other website development applications, then hosted with whatever hosting site you want to use.
As you'd expect, the prices and capabilities go up as you go from a) to d). I'm working with a nice package from MA WebCenters that fits into category c) - the site can originate from an existing layout or be built from scratch and can be custom-designed by their web developers if you want; but then you can maintain and manage the site and make changes anytime you want using their online tools. They also provide unlimited Tech Support as part of the monthly fee, and the package also includes an online catalog, ecommerce, and site promotion tools as well.
